The 2010 Rome Chamber Music Festival:
June 13, 14, 15, 16, 17

The 2010 season of the Rome Chamber Music Festival promises to be the most exciting and comprehensive in our seven year history.  The Festival proudly introduces a new one-week format that will present five distinct programs on consecutive evenings.

Opening night will feature a performance by the Venice Baroque Orchestra which includes the Italian premiere of Philip Glass’s Violin Concerto #2, The American Four Seasons, performed by Robert McDuffie.  A celebration of Philip Glass’s music will continue that week with Stephen Prutsman playing the solo piano version of the hauntingly beautiful soundtrack from the movie The Hours.  Following dates will highlight chamber music masterpieces such as Brahms’s Piano Trio in B major, Ravel’s Piano Trio in A minor, Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E flat major, Dvořák’s Piano Quartet in E flat, Oliver Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, Schubert’s Fantasy for four hand piano, and Steve Reich’s Nagoya for two marimbas.

In addition to its richly diverse repertoire, the Festival will continue to encourage and support students from the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University and Italian students by presenting public master classes taught by the Festival’s world-renown artists.  The Festival is proud to play a role in nurturing the next generation of talented artists and looks forward to welcoming its students each year.

If you haven't yet attended the Rome Chamber Music Festival, this is the year to join us in Rome.  We hope to see old and new friends as we embark on a thrilling season marked by creative and adventurous programming and what is sure to be memorable performances by world-class artists.
