Bio

Luna Hayoung Choi is an award-winning violinist from Daejeon, South Korea, recognized for her compelling artistry and distinguished achievements on the international stage. Most recently, she was awarded First Prize at the Bales Violin Competition and won the New England Conservatory Honors Chamber Music Competition. She also appeared as featured soloist with the Aspen Festival Orchestra under David Robertson after winning the prestigious 2023 Dorothy DeLay Competition.

Choi has earned top prizes at numerous major competitions, including the Irving M. Klein International String Competition and the MTNA National Competition. As a soloist, she has performed with ensembles such as the Neo-Strings, Sangrok Orchestra, Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra.

Currently, Choi is pursuing a Master of Musical Arts at the Yale School of Music, studying with Augustin Hadelich. She previously earned a Master of Music from the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Donald Weilerstein. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the McDuffie Center for Strings.
