Devin O’Brien
Bio
Double bassist Devin O’Brien, based in Atlanta and Philadelphia, is the Thomas and Pat Vernon Fellow at the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studies with Hal Robinson and Edgar Meyer. He was a semifinalist in the 28th Sphinx Competition and won third prize at the Hilton Head Symphony Youth Concerto Competition, and has appeared as a soloist with the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra.
O’Brien served as Principal Bass of Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra, touring North and South America, and was the first high school student admitted to the McDuffie Center for Strings. He currently performs with Symphony in C in Camden, New Jersey.
A Questrom Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School, he served as Assistant Principal of the Aspen Festival Orchestra and has upcoming performances at Curtis and the Rome Chamber Music Festival.
