Govanny Brown
Bio
Palm Beach County native and Mexican-Jamaican violist Govanny Brown began studying viola at age ten. A graduate of the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, he has performed at major venues including Carnegie Hall, Severance Concert Hall, and Walt Disney Concert Hall, and has collaborated with artists such as Charlie Porter, Audra McDonald, and Francisco Fullana. He has performed under conductors including Thomas Wilkins, Gustavo Dudamel, and Michael Tilson Thomas.
Brown studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Mark Jackobs and currently attends the McDuffie Center for Strings, where he studies with Victoria Chiang and Rebecca Albers. An active chamber and orchestral musician, he has participated in the Aspen Music Festival and performs regularly in chamber series.
