Bio

Kayla Yagi-Bacon is a junior at the McDuffie Center for Strings under the tutelage of Amy Schwartz Moretti, Robert McDuffie, and David Kim. In 2016 she won second prize in the Coeur d’Alene Symphony’s National Young Artists Concerto Competition and made her solo debut that August. She won third prize in the Japan International Music Competition in 2018 and recently placed 2second in the 17th Cecilia International Music Competition’s Recital Division last spring in Tokyo, Japan.

She had a wonderful time last summer as a fellow of the Sarasota Music Festival in Florida, playing in orchestra alongside soloists such as Anne-Marie McDermott and Robert Levin and playing for the Attacca Quartet. In her free time, she loves to bake and cook for friends and family.
