Laura Liu
Bio
Laura Liu, a native of Miami, Florida, is a violist based in New York City, where she studies with Cynthia Phelps and Misha Amory. Praised by Classical Voice America as a “standout” with a “sound deep, warm, and consistently musical,” she is currently an Artist Diploma candidate at The Juilliard School, where she earned her Bachelor and Master of Music as a Kovner Fellow.
An ardent chamber musician, Liu has performed at leading festivals including Kronberg Academy’s Chamber Music Connects the World, Music@Menlo’s International Program, Olympic Music Festival, Perlman Music Program’s Chamber Music Workshop, Taos School of Music, Kneisel Hall, Music Academy of the West, and Heifetz International Music Institute.
Her solo accolades include the Edwin Caplin Foundation Award from the 2024 Verbier Festival Academy, and both an Honorary Mention and the Pirastro Prize for outstanding young talent at the 2022 Oskar Nedbal International Viola Competition.
