Pietro Pompei e Flavio Tanzi
Bio
In 2011 Pietro Pompei and Flavio Tanzi founded , a Rome-based group specializing in modern and contemporary repertory.
The duo aims to give voice to present-day music and its different realms: original compositions (in collaboration with contemporary composers), musical theater, minimalism, electronic music, and industrial sounds are all regular features.
Both percussionists work together with composers, ensembles, and other musicians from all backgrounds, thus making Blow Up Percussion into a versatile duo, very sensitive to modern-day feelings and in harmony with every kind of artistic experience.
Their collaborations range from those with the Ensemble Promoteo and the Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble (PMCE) as part of multi-instrumental ensembles, to performing electronic music with the London-based group Plaid and partnering with renowned Italian cellist Mario Brunello.
Blow Up Percussion has been invited to many festivals and internationals events, such as the Cantiere Internazionale di Montepulciano, the Festival Nuova Consonanza, the Contemporanea and In My Life seasons at the Auditorium Parco della Musica di Roma, and the Festival MITO Settembre Musica in Milan and Turin.
