Ricky Bonavita
Bio
Choreographer, dancer, and teacher of modern and contemporary dance at Rome’s Accademia Nazionale di Danza, Ricky Bonavita also teaches at Norges Dansehøyskole, Oslo; University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy, Estonia; and Konzervatoř Duncan centre.
Since 2018 he has been co–artistic director of PinDoc—producers for twelve dance companies and choreographers—and in 1994 he founded the Compagnia Excursus with Theodor Rawyler.
Bonavita won first prize for contemporary choreography at the 2010 Yury Grigorovich “Young Ballet of the World” International Competition in Sochi, Russia, and third prize for choreography at the 2004 Serge Lifar International Ballet Competition in Kyiv, Ukraine. He also won the Fausto Maria Franchi Award for best contemporary choreography at the 2010 Concorso Internazionale di Danza—Premio Roma, and first prize “Singolari di danza 1988” of the Teatro Spaziozero in Rome.
