Ricky Bonavita



Coreographer, dancer and teacher of modern and contemporary dance technique at Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome, guest teacher in famous european universities such as Norges Dansehøyskole, Oslo; University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy, Estonia; KonzervatořDuncan centre, Praga, etc.

Since 2018 shares the artistic direction of PinDoc, an association that produce the work of 12 dance companies and italian coreographers, sustained by the MIBACT and Regione Sicilia.

Since the 80s permormed in more than 1000 shows in Italy and abroad creating an intense artistic and professional journey as a dancer and choreographer. In 1994 founded Compagnia Excursus with Theodor Rawyler, sustained by MIBACT. Through more than 30 productions, the company becomes the medium to initiate his own choreographic and aesthetic research, where coexists the love for creating dreamlike environments governed by dynamic bodies and abstract lines with the need to narrate and explore interpersonal relationships through dance.

As a guest choreographer, he has collaborated with Fundación Opera Panamá, International World Stars of Ballet Art in Kazakhstan, La Compagnia dell’AND in Rome, Akarwerkstatt in Switzerland, as part of theater productions for Maurizio Scaparro’s “Memorie di Adriano” with Giorgio Albertazzi, for Daniele Salvo’s “Il funambolo” for Napoli Teatro Festival; in television for RAI1 Eurovision live “L’alba separa dalla luce l’ombra,” Concert by Andrea Boccelli from the Colosseum, Rome.

He won among others the 1st prize for contemporary choreography The Young Ballet of the World competition 2010, in Sochi, Russia, chaired by M° Yuri Grigorovich, the 3rd prize for choreography Serge Lifar International Ballet Competition 2004 in Kiev, Ukraine, and the Fausto Maria Franchi Prize for the best contemporary choreographic piece at the International Dance Competition – Rome Prize 2010, the 1st prize “Singulars of Dance 1988” of the Spaziozero Theater in Rome.

He also curates together with Danila Blasi the artistic direction of the TenDance Festival for the Rosa Shocking association, supported by MIC and the Lazio Region.
