Roberto Sanhermelando Blanes
Bio
Roberto Sanhermelando Blanes is a Spanish double bassist based in Amsterdam, where he pursued his master’s degree with Olivier Thiery, Naomi Shaham, and Ying Lai Green. He also studied at the Royal College of Music in London with Rodrigo Moro, Principal Bassist of the London Symphony Orchestra and Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Roberto completed his Bachelor’s studies in Valencia, his hometown—where he received the Extraordinary Prize—and in Madrid with Julio Pastor of the Spanish National Orchestra.
He has performed with several Spanish orchestras, including the Orquesta de la Región de Murcia, Orquesta del Reino de Navarra, and Orquestra de les Illes Balears. Focusing primarily on chamber music, he recorded his first album with Nostrum Mare Camerata and has performed duo concerts across the Netherlands. He will appear as a baroque musician at the Rome Chamber Music Festival next June. Continuously expanding his musical horizons, Blanes is currently studying jazz, baroque, composition, and arranging to further develop his artistry.
