Rome Chamber Music Festival 2025 – 22nd Edition
June 16–19 – Auditorium Conciliazione, Rome – Via della Conciliazione, 4
Artistic Director: Robert McDuffie
The Rome Music Chamber Festival is finally coming home, where history meets the future of classical music.
The Rome Chamber Music Festival returns to Auditorium Conciliazione June 16-19. Now in its 22nd year, the Rome Chamber Music Festival has delighted audiences with carefully curated programs framed by the majesty of the Eternal City.
Join us for four memorable evenings of musical masterpieces, led by Robert McDuffie.
Acclaimed classical stars will join young artists and young professionals – stars-in-the-making – to perform the beloved masterpieces of Tartini, Brahms, Mahler, Ravel among others as well as Renaissance choirs ( performed by famous Vox Medicea and English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble) and klezmer clarinet virtuoso David Krakauer.
Timeless masterpieces ranging from the great classics to lesser-known pieces to the general public.
Under the wise artistic direction of the American violinist Robert McDuffie, a Grammy candidate and an Emmy Award winner, 45 artists will perform at the Auditorium of the Conciliation, for four magical evenings, from June 16th to 19th.
Among the world renowned artists , the pianist Andrea Lucchesini, the composer and conductor Flavio Emilio Scogna, the clarinetist David Krakauer, the soloists of the choir Vox Medicea directed by Mark Spyropoulos, performing together with the celebrated English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble, and bandoneon genius Héctor Ulises Passarella. Crossing over genres and barriers , timeless beauty and magic meets with the energy of twenty-five young professional artists.
Auditorium Conciliazione has a special meaning for Maestro McDuffie , “It was at Auditorium della Conciliazione where I had my Rome debut in 1994 with Santa Cecilia, more than thirty years later here I am performing the ‘Trillo del diavolo‘ by Giuseppe Tartini, this piece changed my life for ever , listening to Itzhak Perlman ‘s interpretation made me decide to devote my life to music.”
From Villa Aurelia on the Gianicolo to the Gonfalone Oratory in via Giulia, to the Salone Pietro Da Cortona at Palazzo Barberini and Teatro Argentina, before returning to the Auditorium della Conciliazione. Permanent seat of the Symphony Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia from 1958 to 2003, the concert hall designed by the famous Roman architect Marcello Piacentini, represents, a few steps from the Basilica of San Pietro, a symbolic tribute to the Jubilee Year and a welcome to the new Pontiff Leo XIV.
Between sacred and profane, therefore, is an appropriate definition for the opening night on June 16th where McDuffie will perform “Il trillo del diavolo” by Giuseppe Tartini twice, in the original baroque version and in the Kreisler’s version. Tartini twice, doppio Tartini , which is also the name of a cocktail named after the virtuoso violinist. A tribute to the Jubilee and to the sacred music of the Italian Renaissance will follow right after, thanks to the soloists of Vox Medicea, directed by Mark Spyropoulos, together with The English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble which celebrates its 30 years of career here in Rome.
On the second evening, June 17th, we explore an unusual repertoire, with a piano trio by Ravel and the “Quintet for piano and strings in F minor, op. 34” by Johannes Brahms, with pianist Andrea Lucchesini and Robert McDuffie on violin. Another hyperclassical highlight will be the Piano Sonata by Maurice Ravel with pianist Derek Wang.
The third evening, on June 18 th, opens with the famous “Passacaglia” by Georg Friedrich Händel, followed by the fascinating Violin Duet by hungarian composer Miklós Rózsa performed by two among the most promising rising stars of the music scene , two sisters Fiona and Hina Hou, leading to the Gran Finale with a selection Jewish Klezmer Songs performed by maestro David Krakauer on clarinet and a string quintet with great young professionals.
The final concert night on June 19 th, celebrates the majestic force of Nature with the Symphony n. 1 in D major “The Titan” by Gustav Mahler, in a chamber version for fourteen instruments conducted by Flavio Emilio Scogna. It will be epic. and there will also be a surprise encore with Héctor Ulises Passarella in a tribute to famous tango genius Astor Piazzolla.
