Wesley O’Brien
Bio
Wesley was born into a musical family and began studying viola at age six. Currently a senior at the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings, he studies with Victoria Chiang and Rebecca Albers. Wesley has performed in masterclasses for Heidi Castleman, Misha Amory, Hsin-Yun Huang, and members of the Emerson, Cleveland, Calidore and Escher Quartets. He has also participated in the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival, where he served as assistant principal viola of the Aspen Chamber Symphony in 2023 as a recipient of a Center for Orchestral Leadership Fellowship. Wesley has also attended the Danish String Quartet Academy in Kerteminde, Denmark and performed with the Atlanta, New World, and Red Deer Symphonies. A featured performer on the Fabian Series in Macon, Wesley has performed with artists Matt Lipman, Brannon Cho, Amy Schwartz Moretti, and Fabiola Kim. He performs on a John Newton viola from 2018.
